The compact Genoese citadel is the historical anchor of Saint-Florent and gives the port more depth than a simple marina stroll. Visit it before or after the waterfront, then use the nearby town as a base for Patrimonio and the Agriates coast.
Admission is inexpensive and is normally paid at the entrance when the site is open.

Saint-Florent’s small harbor is the area’s essential evening stroll: boats, old-town lanes, and restaurant terraces are all concentrated here. It is also the practical launch point for many excursions toward the Désert des Agriates and Saleccia.
Pairs with: Citadelle de Saint-Florent · Désert des Agriates · Plage de Saleccia
The Agriates is one of northern Corsica’s defining wild landscapes, with maquis-covered hills, rough tracks, and access to exceptional beaches. Treat it as an outdoors day rather than a quick viewpoint: organize a boat, 4x4 transfer, or serious hike from Saint-Florent.
Reserve boat or 4x4 transport in advance for summer dates; independent hiking requires heat and water planning.
Pairs with: Port de Saint-Florent · Plage de Saleccia
Saleccia is the Agriates’ headline beach: a long sweep of pale sand and clear water reached with more effort than ordinary roadside beaches. The journey is part of the experience, so allow most of a day and bring food, water, and sun protection.
In high season, reserve a boat or 4x4 shuttle from Saint-Florent rather than assuming same-day availability.
Pairs with: Désert des Agriates · Port de Saint-Florent
This exceptionally well-preserved Romanesque church, built in patterned green and pale stone, is one of Corsica’s most memorable small monuments. It makes an excellent inland counterpoint to Saint-Florent’s coast and wineries, though it needs a car and does not require a long stay.
Pairs with: Lac de Padula · Poterie du Nebbiu
Patrimonio is Corsica’s signature wine stop, and this estate is a useful way to taste the region’s distinctive Niellucciu and Vermentinu close to Oletta. Make it part of a winery-focused afternoon rather than treating it as a standalone sightseeing destination.
Arrange tastings ahead, especially in summer and during harvest season.
Pairs with: Domaine Novella · Citadelle de Saint-Florent · Port de Saint-Florent
Another useful Patrimonio-area wine estate, Domaine Novella gives first-time visitors a direct introduction to the vineyards behind the local appellation. Choose one or two estates rather than trying to visit every producer in a day.
Contact the estate before going; tastings are commonly arranged by appointment.
Pairs with: Domaine SANTAMARIA Patrimonio · Citadelle de Saint-Florent · Port de Saint-Florent
This small pottery workshop is a worthwhile local-craft stop, especially for travelers who prefer a tangible Corsican souvenir to generic resort shopping. It is best used as a short detour while driving between Oletta, Patrimonio, and Saint-Florent.
Pairs with: Domaine SANTAMARIA Patrimonio · Domaine Novella · Église Saint-Michel de Murato
This reservoir is more of a quiet scenic pause than a destination that justifies a major detour. Use it for views and a brief break if you are already exploring the inland roads around Oletta.
