Savvy choices.
First visit? Stay in Shimbashi.
Shimbashi is Minato’s most practical first-trip base: multiple JR and subway lines make the whole city easy, Ginza is walkable, and business-hotel supply usually offers better value than the ward’s luxury enclaves. It is not charming—expect izakaya streets, railway noise and a weekday-office-worker mood—but it minimizes transit friction better than more glamorous Minato options.
