Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport: The sensible gateway. Rent a car and take the George Parks Highway (AK-3): roughly 2.5–3 hours to Talkeetna, depending on stops and weather. In summer, a prebooked Anchorage–Talkeetna van/coach is the car-free alternative; allow about 2.5–3.75 hours and roughly $60–$90 from the airport area. Do not expect frequent walk-up public transport.
Talkeetna Airport: This is a tiny air-taxi/flightseeing field, not a scheduled-airline alternative to Anchorage. It is close to the historic village; arrange a pickup with your lodge or operator, or walk only if you are traveling light and conditions are good. Its real use is Denali flightseeing and climber logistics.
Talkeetna Depot (Alaska Railroad): Take the Alaska Railroad’s Denali Star if the seasonal schedule fits your trip; Talkeetna is a stop between Anchorage and Denali/Fairbanks. The depot is close enough to the historic village to walk with manageable luggage, but arrange a lodge transfer if you are staying outside the compact downtown core. Book rail seats rather than assuming same-day availability.
