Līhuʻe Airport: This is Kauaʻi’s only practical air gateway, about 10 miles south of Kapaʻa. Rent a car at/near the airport if you intend to see Waimea Canyon, the North Shore, or trailheads: it is the actually useful transfer, and the drive to central Kapaʻa is roughly 20–30 minutes, longer in rush-hour congestion. For a car-free Kapaʻa stay, use The Kauaʻi Bus toward Kapaʻa (roughly $2–4; allow about 45–60 minutes including waiting) rather than paying for a private airport transfer. A taxi/rideshare is quicker but commonly lands around $45–70 plus tip, depending on the exact hotel and demand.
