Boston Logan International Airport: For most visitors without a car, take the free SL1 Silver Line from Logan to South Station, ride the Red Line one stop to Park Street, then take a Green Line D train toward Riverside for Newton Highlands, Newton Centre, Waban, Chestnut Hill, or Riverside. Allow roughly 60–75 minutes to the middle/south side of Newton; you pay only the subway fare after the free airport bus. With heavy luggage or a destination far from the D branch, rideshare is more sensible: roughly 25–50 minutes depending on traffic and commonly far more expensive at peak times.
Boston South Station: For Newtonville, West Newton, or Auburndale, use the MBTA Framingham/Worcester commuter rail rather than backtracking onto the Green Line. It is roughly 20–30 minutes to Newtonville, with fares around the lower commuter-rail zones; service is strongest at rush hour and thinner at other times. For Newton Centre/Highlands/Waban, take the Red Line one stop to Park Street and the Green Line D toward Riverside, about 40–50 minutes total.
