Getting in

• Los Angeles International Airport: LAX is the airport that makes sense. For a Malibu stay, rent a car there or take a direct rideshare: roughly 45–90 minutes to central Malibu when traffic cooperates, longer for Point Dume, Zuma or Trancas; expect a rideshare to be expensive (often around $70+ before surge). The low-cost public-transit fallback is the LAX/Metro Transit Center connection to the K Line, transfer to the E Line for Downtown Santa Monica, then Metro Line 134 along PCH into Malibu—about 2 hr 15 min and roughly $5–8. It is viable for a light pack and a hotel near a 134 stop, not for a beach-hopping day.
